Course Outline:
Day 1: Patient History Taking – students work through primary care patient scenarios practising how to perform history taking
Patient History Taking with Post Encounter Probes – students work through primary care patient scenarios and review clinical knowledge and ddx
Day 2: Counseling and Providing Information / Developing Management Plans – students work through primary care patient scenarios and practice how to counsel and provide information and develop management plans
Day 3: Physical Exams – Students will have access to 12 physical exam templates in addition to 12 physical exam videos. A step-by-step approach on physical exams are provided on the following systems:
- Neurological Exam – cranial nerves only
- Neurological Exam – excluding cranial nerves
- HEENT
- Cardiovascular
- Respiratory
- Abdominal
- Spine
- Shoulder
- Elbow
- Wrist/Hand
- Knee
- Ankle/Foot
Day 4: MOCK OSCE – On the final day of the course, students run through a mock OSCE with standardized patients. The mock OSCE covers history taking, post encounter probes, counseling and providing information, developing management plans, physical exams and critical incidents.
