What is the 2 day course all about?
The course will focus on the foundational skills of clinical practice and health assessment. In other words, you’ll learn the essential skills needed to confidently step into a clinical setting.
This course is designed to help you:

This course is for you if you’re:
- A NP student entering clinical practicums
- A NP student preparing for a health assessment course
- Are a new grad NP entering practice
- Looking for a refresher on health assessment skills
The best part is you don’t need to come into the course knowing all things health assessment! My job is to teach you the practical clinical skills you need to thrive in practicums and clinical practice. This means I will show you how to perform various skills in a step by step manner by working through patient scenarios and give you a structured plan on how to carry out your patient visits!
So, no matter where you’re at in your NP journey, this course will give you the skills you need, leaving you feeling more confident then when you came in!
What does the 2 day in person course cover?
You’ll learn how to:
- Perform a patient history taking
- Identify differential diagnoses
- Conduct a review of systems
- Develop management plans (i.e. non pharmacologic vs pharmacologic strategies, prescribing, diagnostic work up, identifying acute symptoms, when to refer, providing educational resources & follow up)
- Counseling and providing patient education
- Identify red flag conditions and acute symptoms warranting ER referral
- Assess your clinical knowledge through patient scenarios
- Safe Prescribing
- Perform various physical exams with hands on practice ranging from neurological exams to ankle/foot exams
